CLINGING TO THE TREES OF A FOREST FIRE release their Prosthetic Records debut from the heart of the US underground. This self proclaimed “funeral grind” outfit deliver a harrowing, extreme experience often compared to the likes of Brutal Truth, Eyehategod and Pig Destroyer. “Songs Of Ill Hope And Desperation” uncovers a mighty new force in forward thinking dark, dirty grinding doom sludge.

The music on the second full length (and Prosthetic debut) by Denver’s Clinging To The Trees Of A Forest Fire, “Songs Of Ill Hope And Desperation is described by the band as “funeral grind”, as in, too slow for grindcore, too fast for doom. Founded in 2006, the band’s self released debut EP “Harmonies For Bleeding Mouths”, earned the group a devoted local following while their debut album, 2008’s “Omega Drunk On The Blood Of Alpha” (Debello Rercordings), won acclaim from outlets both close to home (Denver’s Westword called it one the the year’s best) and those many miles away (South Florida’s New Times wrote that the album proved “that grindcore’s future is as bright and brutal as ever”).

Inspired by and compared to the likes of Brutal Truth, Pig Destroyer, Discordance Axis, EyeHateGod and Napalm Death, CTTTOAFF has toured tirelessly over the past several years throughout North America, and is currently planning a summer tour with Oregon’s Burials. Soon after completing the recording of their new album – tracked in Colorado by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio (Cephalic Carnage, Cobalt, Catheter), and described by vocalist Ethan McCarthy as “out most dynamic, bleakest and dirtiest material to date” – the band debuted their new material at Prosthetic’s inaugural showcase at South By Southwest.
